Default Ethanol?

I'm not an advocate of ethanol, so just curious. It appears we in the U.S. will be facing E15 as a minimum in the not too distant future, so....

My 2.0T allroad is E85 capable. I presume also the like-engined mkIII TT?

Huey, I believe the 4 cylinder gas engines (in the USA) are rated for E85 as of 2013MY.

Can you buy E85??

No, I've not seen E85 around here. Less energy per comparable unit equals greater consumption anyway.

Just be careful when running E85 fuel. All standard fuel pumps are design and tested for up to E30 fuel.
To run E85, it takes a special fuel pump and believe me, if you run E85 consistently, the pump will not last. It will break down in time. Right now it makes no sense to run E85 fuel because of the price and the MPG reduction of about 20%.

Read the numbers, talk to owners, the MPG reduction is more like 30+%.
