Default First Mk3 problem

I waited a week to lower the rear seat backs for the first time; one of the seat latches has now failed and won't release. Booked a service appointment for September.

I spent a lot of "quality time" at Audi Service with my Mk2 over the years, looks like it may continue with the Mk3.

On a positive note, I like that the rear seat backs lay much flatter than the Mk2.

A little thing I guess, but I'm looking forward to the completely fold-flat seats, which I haven't enjoyed since my late 90's Jeep Cherokee.

I've not had a seat release issue with current or prior Audi's so hopefully a one-time part anomaly which I'm sure they'll resolve under warranty.

The problem was diagnosed today. The release cable is too long and slipped off the pulley. A new part has been ordered from Germany. In the meantime, I will keep my seat folded.

Default TT Seat Latch Issue - Dealer's Off-Site "Interiors" Person To Do Repair.

Hi -

Both seat back latches worked initially on our new TT (picked up two weeks ago) but the second time I went to put them down, one would not release. The dealer has ordered a part and intends to have their "interiors" person (off site) do the repair. I'm not fond of that idea. Do you know how complicated the repair (part replacement) was on your TT or how long it took?

Thanks.

FYI this is a fairly commonly reported issue it seems. Seen a number of instances on the UK forum as well. Seems to be a simple fix though.

I had the exact same thing happen to one of my rear seats.
They rehooked the cable and it works fine. Though I laud your dealership in providing you with an updated cable- NY dealers go for the repair of least resistance/effort.

Default Any issues with extended back seat folding?

Question about the back seats being folded. Do you tend to leave your back seats folded down most of the time to create a bigger hatch? If so, does the leather start to mark or get dented as a result? I've seen this on MINI hatches. Some people have them folded all the time and they get permanently dented.

Thanks

Never had a problem with folding the seats back for extended periods. Though, I tend to keep them in the upright position most of time.
