Default First oil change.

Had my TT almost a year and saw a warning that it was time to change the oil.The dealer also did a software upgrade and the 5,000 mile service. I questioned why do a 5g service when the car has only 1,300 miles on it. The answer is whichever comes first, time, or 5g miles.
Over the phone, they said the software was for Climate Control. My printout says the TCM software is for a Fed emissions update, as well as "Reprogram Gearbox with temp sensor software". Driving, I feel no difference.

Ask when you go. Can't see the work being done from the customer lounge.

Default Oil degrades over time...

… gathers moisture, etc. I drive a lot, so 5k intervals are only a couple of months apart. I have switched to top extraction since my filters point up in the S4/S5/RS5 family…

I then send an oil sample to Blackstone Labs fro analysis - very helpful

Blackstone Labs

Only $25 per sample… her is a sample from the RS5.

I have no problem with top extraction, in fact I plan to do same on my TTS at the non-AudiCare 5k intervals, which will likely be another year hence. I do want the first 5k break-in oil to be pan-drained however.
Lab analysis is of course the smart way to go. I periodically do the same with my lawn.

What exactly are you looking for when you have the oil analyzed?
Sorry if this is a noob question, which it is.

As noted in the comments one item would be excess metals indicating abnormal internal wear.
