I checked out those other products, but there wasn't anything that I read that would make me give up my rain-x. I've really been using this product for over 40 years. BTW, I use a product called Plast-X for the headlights and rear lights. It acts just like the Rain-X, but for plastics. And just like the Rain-X, it makes the snow/ice come off easier.

Cool. Good to know. I dug around so more as well and some of the reviews for Auqapel were scary. Toxic smell. Some guy got some of it on his paint and it left a permanent mark. WTH! No thanks. Tried and true Rain-X.

Which Rain-X product are you using?

Given use over 40 years I would daresay Original Rain-X.

I use Griot's similar product these days, but good to know the ol' school tried and true still has value.

Had the smallest spitting of snow while driving.....windows warm front defroster. When I went to get out of car windows were now frozen up, just while driving from the smallest amount of moisture. It just amazes me how they can free up so quick with virtually no moisture at all. I don't mind applying something if it fixes it, but it would be nice if Audi had a statement to owners about the issue.

We had half a foot of snow over the weekend, windows were crusted when I cleaned the car off the next morning, yet I didnt have any problem with the windows at all. Its only when the freeze is preceded by rain. Its been warm and rainy the past couple of days, but its supposed to be 15F tomorrow morning. I guarantee they'll be frozen when I try to go to work tomorrow.

Use the original Rain-X that squirts on, the wax version is awful to get off once applied.

Clean that windshield inside and out with original blue color Windex. There's more moisture there than you realize. This should help with that ice buildup.
