iPod "not supported"

Restoring my iPod under Mac didn't make any difference. I still have to elicit "Playlist", "Album", or another header each time I start the car to get it to actually play. But not so bad considering now a ten year old device that simply remains in the cubby.

btw: Mine is an 80GB Classic. The firmware was/is up to date but under Windows so I restored under Macintosh. We shall see, but if I still just have to open Playlists in the MMI not so bad.
My iPhone 6s (BT connected) and twin SD cards work fine, as does the DVD/CD player, as well as Sirius and of course HD Radio. I've never bothered with the hard drive Jukebox allocation. How many sources do we need?

Good point. It's not easy being a frugal Yankee sometimes. 😉
Of course I can just BT stream or USB connect my iPhone 6s, which works flawlessly.

oh man Huey, are you using all 80 GB, or could you live with 64 GB? That's a lot of music. My wife has an 80 GB classic also that works perfectly in her Volvo.....but I've got a 64 GB touch in my TT and it works seamlessly. You've spent $55k or thereabouts on a TTS, treat yourself to a new iPod.....64 GB is only $299, and it will work perfectly in the TT. If I had to reset my iPod every time I started the car up, it would drive me absolutely nuts.

Just for the heck of it I tried a forlorn iPod Nano I found in a drawer (newer than my iPod Classic, but still a number of years old). Restored, assured current firmware and installed some tunes but the Audi MMI didn't even recognize it as a device. Nano Nada. Then again, perhaps Nano Gray required?
