I did install it myself. its DIY friendly as long as u have the right tools. u need mainly torx screws for the belly pan below. having the car jacked up or on ramps helps a TON as you need space to remove the front belly pan to access one of the plugs. the rest is very easy.

Given the extra thickness of this stiffener and the slight droop of the transmission itself when detached I found it a bit hard to get the bolt again started, but once I got it, it was easy peezy. I too used drive-on ramps to afford enough room to drop the front of the belly pan and reach the work.

i didnt know which version mine was and the rep suggested its ver 1 thinking its the same as the s3. But apparently not. Honest mistake i guess i woukda thought its the same as the s3 as well and not the golf. They sending me a new one so its find. Just loss of time yesterday. Thanks! Weather has been phenomenal this weekend. Have the day off and gonna go take some pics!

At the time I ordered mine I asked the rep to recommend the part number as I was too lazy to climb under, but he wisely wouldn't. 
guess i shoulda asked i didnt know which version mine was and the rep suggested its ver 1 thinking its the same as the s3. But apparently not. Honest mistake i guess i woukda thought its the same as the s3 as well and not the golf. They sending me a new one so its find. Just loss of time yesterday.
