Oil Consumption thread started...CR/Yahoo article discussion
Just put out some feelers on the S3 pages, looking for input if these engines in the TT and TTS are experiencing oil consumption issues, as per the Consumer Reports/Yahoo article posted last week. The 2.0T was mentioned several times, not necessarily the S3 or TT.

The 2.0T in my prior A5 and current allroad didn't/don't consume any oil, but then I changed/change at 5k intervals (AudiCare and my own).
All oil-cooled turbo's use a bit of oil, but again it's not something I've noticed, and I always install a manual dipstick.
If you want to talk about real oil consumption I'll refer you to my past Mazda RX-8 (rotary engine)!!

I have not seen any indication that the engines used in these cars have oil consumption issues.
These cars use 3rd Gen EA888 Engines.
Though the Class action was just settled, the model years affected were 2009-2011.
Affected Engine Code CAEB. I have this in my A5 but thankfully my oil consumption is an acceptable one litre per 5000-7000 Km.

Agree, very rare on the TT

That said, the OP posted this on the Mk 3 forum, a model that has not been sold yet in the US. If you want more opinions about Mk 2 oil consumption, post this on the Mk 2 forum in Quattroworld or Fourtitude. Also include a link to the article.

I think I may have seen one or two posts over the years on the multiple Mk 2 TT forums I follow (the Mk 1 used the 1.8 which did not have oil problems either) about unusual oil consumption. I get my oil changed on the recommended 10K intervals and never have to add oil between changes.

Try another forum
Since 95% of the posts here are from North America users, you might try a UK forum for experience with the Mk 3. Have not seen a single post here about any European folks posting pics of their new Mk 3. Just trying to lead you to more favorable turf because I don't think you will find any answers to your questions here.
