Default Replacement Brake Pads

Has anyone been able to find a Hawk ceramic brake pad for the TTS? Hawk does not list a pad for our cars. EBC Brakes lists the same pad for the 2014+ TTS and the B7 A4. I'd like to verify the accuracy of that. The stock Audi part numbers don't match for the TTS and A4.

I think that has to be a misprint in the EBC US catalog - the pad shape looks wrong for a 4-piston caliper. The UK catalog shows a completely different pad series (DP42127R yellow, DP32127C red), with more reasonable dimensions. These same pads are also listed for the S3 and other Audi / Seat / Skoda / VW models with the 340 mm TRW brakes.

I haven't gotten around to pulling the calipers and measuring the stock TTS pads yet, but hope to soon.

That is not correct. That may have worked for the TT2, but not the TT3.

Do you want different pads for less dust? Or are yours worn out already?

Dust. I'd probably need to wash the car half as often.

I called Hawk. They don't make brake pads for the 2016 TTS.

EBC lists RedStuff pads under "TTS 2015+". Do the MK2 and MK3 models have the same brakes?

I was told that RedStuff pads actually leave RED-ish dust. Is that true?

No, TT2 and TT3 have different brakes. In the UK, however, the TT3 launched as a 2015 model year.

I used RBC pads back in 2000 and 2001, the green stuff, and they always melted onto the rotors and I had to change rotors all the time. This was just in city driving, too. And they wouldn't grip until they warmed up. Ever since then I always avoided EBC brakes.

I have used Hawk ceramics in the past and liked them a lot, but they will likely adversely impact your braking performance compared to the pads on your car currently.

I have also used Porterfield pads and was very pleased. I think they were the 4S or something similar. It was a while ago so I can't remember the exact type. But lower dust, no noise, and good braking performance.

Thanks. Porterfield doesn't make them either. Guess I'll just wash the car twice a week.

Or just wash the wheels twice a week if the car isn't dirty.
