Might be an installation problem, but I fear you're right. Looks like the latch release straps put too much stress on the rather small tab that holds the top of the trim piece in place.

After seeing this post I checked my seats. My car has just over 2000 brand new miles on it. And yes the driver side, side trim is starting pop out. I guess it can wait until my first service.

Update: Picked up the TT mk3 from the dealership. They fixed both sides, and now looks perfect and doesn't look as flimsy as it was before. no gap at all.

Great news ! I hope the new (and improved?) clips last forever.

It's strange how it started happening to all of us at the same time. Mine are on the way from Germany, there was a TSB on this issue (the clips broke on both sides).

I've not had an issue (08 October 15 build) so likely a particular run of seats from JIT vendor.

Glad to hear there's a fix for those affected.

Any chance you got or know the TSB number?

Just picked up the car yesterday, it was listed on the paperwork. I'll check when I get home! As mentioned by a previous member, the replacements seem to fit even better than the originals did.

I believe it is a newer, modified part, if yours were ordered referencing the TSB.
