This is terrible considering how low the Mk3 TT has been in production.
For those afflicted here is some more ammo that it is a worldwide problem:

The above was posted on 2 August, and I noticed today that the passenger side had broken again. The dealer says the TSB doesn't mention changing any parts other than the exterior trim, but those should have a 15S code on them, which is supposed to be made of something stronger than the original.

This is the part information (a trim panel, screw and clip) and TSB 2042470/1 for the driver and passenger trim bits that were replaced.

My passenger outside is popped out on my 16 TTS. At 3,300 miles, will have it addressed at my 5k service.

My turn. 7000km on the odo and my driver's side popped and I can see the clip inside is broken. My 8000 oil change is coming up so I'll address it then.

Others with the issue: Did they do both your seats or just one?

Keep an eye out everyone!

I just noticed that the passenger side has popped out again. Ugh. Nobody has sat in the seat. It has only been 4 days since I picked up the car !

The driver side is fine so far.

Most likely means it wasn't repaired correctly.

Yeah. Seems to be the case.

I think my car has been in the shop as many weeks as I have owned it (3 weeks in my driveway, three weeks in a service bay waiting for seat parts).

The service manager saw me pull up to the bay. He told me he was very sorry that the issue wasn't resolved. He brought another person over to show the flappy/loose plastic bit and said that I was the fourth customer to experience that problem.

New seat parts were ordered today. It took a week or two last time.

The passenger seat side bit, which has never seen any passenger, was the one that popped. The driver's side is still fine. From that observation, it seems like the clip is under a lot of stress from its design and not usage.
