Default Sticky windows during Montreal winter !!!

I finally got my TTS 2017 delivered after more than 6 months waiting...the wait was long but worthwhile...what a car. When I pick-it up at the dealer, I have explicitly asked whether or not the windows would stick to the rubbers during winter (I am in MTL), which would prevent the door from opening or closing. The technician said "no this never happens"...sure...First snow and both windows were stuck. I managed to open one door, took a credit card and swiped it between the glass and the rubber on the door. The windows could now go up & down.

But this is happening again and again. My car sleep outdoors, wife and kids take the spots in the garage with their own cars. But since I get home later than everyone else and leaves before them in the morning...no choice.

So I have a couple of questions:
1- When the driver's windows does not go down, I can hear the windows motor clicking, as it tries to lower the stuck glass. Can it end-up breaking ?
2- Except by leaving the car in the garage all winter long, what can I do for this not to happen again ?
3- Can I break the window by closing the door, if the glass is not down as it should be ?

Thanks !

1 - Yes presumably; although in their engineering wisdom Audi may have included a ratchet safeguard on the motor
2 - Gummi Pflege: Nextzett Rubber Care Stick Gummi Pflege, gummi pflege
3 - Yes, which is why the feature is included. Of course it would have to be just the right circumstances to do so.

Indeed, thanks! My car spends the winter outside as well. Just ordered some via Amazon.

Of course if the seals happen to get wet from say a cold rain or mist while open a crack and then close on same and freeze overnight Mother Nature will have her way. So try to be conscious of same. Perhaps keep a small towel on board and wipe when you get out as the glass drops and before closing.

Thanks. Very helpful discussion. Ordered some gummy pfledge last night. My car will be garaged overnight, but there will certainly be times when it won't be indoors, in freezing temperatures.

So just to be clear, what people are experiencing is mainly the top of the window freezing to the rubber seals. Is that a correct assessment? If that's the case, then would applying snowboard/ski wax to the top inch of the windows alleviate the issue?

It wouldn't hurt, but I don't feel necessary. Keep the seals in good shape and dry them off if a hard freeze is predicted. This is only a freezing temperature-transition issue after all and can happen to any vehicle. Of course with the auto-drop & rebound somewhat more so in the TT.

I just wipe down the rubber with some silicone lubricant. Works great.

Silicone will work, but dries out rubber over time. A water-based product is better.
