Default Transmission gearing

Hey guys,

I wasn't able to find anything on the web so I was really hoping you guys might know..

I graduate my second nursing degree in 9 months and want to order the TT or tts. How difficult is it, or is it even possible, to change the rest ratio of a dual clutch transmission?

Specifically, I want the system to shift more often. I had a ninja zx6r that could get to 90 in 1st and an srt6 that got to 30 in first. Now, I've got an mx5 that I enjoy shifting.

(Not sure what a "rest ratio" is, but anyway...) I've not taken a DSG apart, but I have seen pictures of the guts - and I don't think you want to go there. The DSG shifts are incredibly smooth and quick, to the point where upshifts when accelerating through a corner on the track don't upset the balance (at least in my A3 3.2). In manual mode, you get to decide when to shift with the paddles, but obviously you're stuck with whatever ratios the factory puts in for the US.

With Drive Select, you do have some control over how aggressive the automatic shifts are, and there are aftermarket controller upgrades that rework the DSG behavior for better performance - at a price.
