A question for the TTS owners out there: are the silver side view mirrors covered in metal or paint, and are they glossy or matte? My paint protection installer is asking for some advance details and I have still yet to see a TTS in the flesh. Thanks in advance!

Oh, and my boat will arrive at the port tomorrow!!!

Silver painted plastic and satin. Of course more towards semi-gloss with a wax or sealant applied. I like it, as gloss (as in chrome) would be too much.

btw: Compared to my allroad there's a lot more plastic overall on the TT than I expected, but then that's one way to cut weight, which is a good thing.

I agree on the plastic - detailing the car and I was surprised how much there is on the exterior panels. Doesn't really matter, but interesting nonetheless.

Thanks, Huey. The installer is going to match the finish with a matte film. Since it sits so close to the ground and is likely to pickup chips, I've also asked him to add film to the silver trim piece on the air dam below the grill (the kit doesn't com with that piece) which I expect will also be plastic with a similar matte silver finish.

The air dam below the front grille is actually a darker grey than the silver of the mirror covers. But matching them would look good.

He's going to use clear film so they should look as they do today. I still haven't seen a TTS in the flesh, so it all feels theoretical to me! In fact, dealer aside, I've only seen one MK3 on the road so far.

The empirical evidence is as good as/better than the theoretical. Trust me!
