Default US version has not Auto start/stop

Pretty sure euro version got this... Kinda got used to it on my Porsche. Its odd to come to a stop and NOT have the engine cut off lol. Why did the US version not get this feature.

Audi thought that people who buy their sporty models don't really think or care about the environment and gas consumption. It is a way to keep costs down, too. BMW kept their Auto Start/Stop in the 4-series. Audi should have kept it in as standard. It definitely helps the environment and your pockets especially when lining up at any kind of queue whether traffic or coffee run or cross-border.

I can't speak for the stop-start experience on a VAG 4-cylinder model, but if it behaves anything like BMW's N20 motor, I'm relieved that it's not included on Audi's US cars (yet). The stop-start on my wife's departed (and in no way missed) 2013 328i was often so rough that it felt like being bumped by another car. It's completely unbecoming of a car costing $50K+, especially considering that the stop-start on my friend's 8-year-old Camry Hybrid is almost undetectable. Seriously it's inexcusably bad, and that would explain why BMW tucked their tail between their legs for the 2014 model year when they quietly changed the factory programming on the 3-Series (and perhaps other models) to defeat stop-start by default.

My Boxster start/stop worked like a champ. Works well on my Wife's Cayenne too. Miss it on the TT. There is usually a button to turn it off if you don't like it anyway.

Good to know that it doesn't universally suck, but I'll reserve judgment until I feel it on a VAG car with a 4-cylinder engine. Stop-start with BMW's N55 6-pot is a lot smoother, but BMW simply didn't put the NVH work in when they paired it with the N20. As for on/off, I'd be happy to have a car with a true override switch, but having to turn it off every time the car is started was special torture.

Start/stop is one of the ways the manufacturer gets to claim their over inflated mpg's. The rental cars I've driven, and the 228x and 428x I test drove had it. I hated it.

I am glad we do not get this in North America, it is a common source of grief.
