2000 Audi a6 won't run with MAF sensor plugged in

2000 Audi a6 won't run with MAF sensor plugged in
I've tried several different things on this car, I replaced the MAF sensor,(no luck), cleaned the MAF sensor,(no luck), cleared the codes,(no luck). I'm stuck, HELP PLEASE. The A6 runs good with the MAF unplugged in, then dies after plugging it in.Is there a way of diagnosing this problem without taking it to a service center? The nearest one to me is 2 hours away. Thanks, Guys

It is a Remanned Cardone sensor, No I don't have one of those and where can I get one? (How Much?) I am new to owning an Audi, I got a really good buy on it and couldn't pass it up. As far as vacuum leaks, I don't know where to look. Thanks again, Craig

You can get a VCDS cable from the link in my previous reply for $349.
Sometimes you find them on the classifieds here too, but don't expect to find a genuine version for much less than ~$300.
Don't waste you time with knock offs - they just end in frustration and lost cash.
These pay for themselves in no time; most Audi dealerships charge $125+/hr for diagnostics.
And as you can see they hold their value very well if you ever decide to sell it
Vacuum leak - all the hoses, MAF connections, etc.
VCDS will definitely help track the problem down.

Problem with MAF sensor solved---Well kind of
Thanks for the help from jakematic, I found a hose off that goes into the turbo. I guess that was the problem. After hooking it up I plugged in the MAF and it idles fine now. Thanks, ALL you guys---You're great help!!

Audi a6 2.7 chokes down at half throttle.
I'm stumped again,I changing the fuel filter My code scanner says I had a misfire #5 cylinder.After I got the MAF sensor problem resolved, I cleared the codes and none has come up since. I would REALLY love to be able to drive this car but I also have overheating issues too. Again I'm asking for your much appreciated help. Thank You Guys So Much

We'll need to see a complete Auto-Scan to see what's going on here.

Overheating could be any number of things.
Without a scan we're just throwing (expensive) parts at it blindly
