Default Another Security Access question

Ok, a plain VAG-COM 512.4 with HEX-USB+CAN question.

Checking channel 16 on a RNS-E 8E0 035 193 E with US sw 0110, I get a "Security Access required" message. Entering a Security Access code results in a "Security access accepted" message but I still get the "Security Access required" message when trying to access channel 16.

How do I have to enter the Security Access code or is a VAS required to read this channel?

Thanks,
Dirk

Default Sounds like the security access code you have

is not the correct one needed to grant access to that channel. A control module can have more than one valid security access code.

A VAS-505x won't get you any further without the appropriate security access code.

Default Thanks, Uwe,

I could swear that the number I have was the only number between 00000 and 99999 that was accepted by VAG-COM as Security Access code but there is a chance that I skipped a couple. Looks like I have to try it again.

Default Huh? You tried 10000 different numbers?

How long did that take? :-)

Brute force attacks on the Security Access function are generally not effective. Most modules will lock out this function (meaning they will reject even a valid code) for some time after a low number of attempts with incorrect codes.

Default I tried 100.000 numbers and it took about 3 weeks.

Well, I didn't them by hand obviously but scripted VAG-COM to perform the tasks. The RNS-E returns a "Security Access code not valid" if the code is wrong and if you try again it says something about invalid seed. But leaving the module and going back in works. I would love to not have to do this but so far everybody who knows what I'm after doesn't tell me how to achieve this.

BTW, did you know that VAG-COM stops working after entering a Security Access code 719 times? To proceed you have to exit and relaunch VAG-COM.

Default Nope didn't know that.

What software are you using to script it?
