Crank no start
My wife was driving yesterday and all of a sudden it just quit. She ran the battery dead trying to get it restarted and listening to the radio waiting for the tow truck to arrive. I vag-scanned it and logged the info to post here for help. I scanned it two times saving each scan and deleting both to see if any dtc's would come back. I have what appears as both cam sensors G40 and G163 both reappearing after a delete and retry. Is it possible both can go bad at the same time, I have doubts. Please help. I have included some of the Dtc's from the 1st and 2nd scans.

Clear the codes, see which ones reoccur. ...
The camshaft sensors, are suspect, but the crankshaft speed/position sensor output must exist or the engine will quit, and won't restart. Check the crankshaft speed sensor.

Ok, still no luck
I replaced the RPM sensor and decided to replace the fuel pump relay but I still can't get it started. I am very puzzled. I went so far as to check the air-fuel-spark, just to see if all those systems individually would work. They all did. I erased the DTC's, cranked it again and got both cam sensors. I've included reports for reference. Please shed some light. I will say that I did get the most codes today while I was checking for air-fuel and spark together which did not return after I erased and rescanned.

Check for water in the ECU box! ...
What common mode/cause could be involved with the DTCs that reoccur? Besides the cam sensors, the fuel pump relay DTC is a clue. Note that all those systems are present in the ECU box. If there is spark, correctly timed, and the correct fuel/air ratio, the engine will start. Maybe the engine is flooded from before.

I checked the ecu box....
and there is no water or moisture. Its dry as a bone and the seals appear to be ok between ecu and harness. Like I said before I replaced the main fuel relay with a new one just for good measure. I haven't pulled the plugs and checked for flooding. I would assume only from looking at other posts that the timing would have to be correct otherwise I should see a plausability dtc. I must say that I did only get the fuel pump relay code while I was running the air/fuel/spark test. I am not sure why. I disconected the fuel return and ran a hose into an empty water bottle and cranked it a few revolutions to check for fuel. It just doesn't make any sense to me.
