Default Difference between Logon - 11 and Security Access - 16

Can someone tell me what the difference is between both options and what determines which option is enabled for a certain controller? Could it be that the dealers VAS and VAG-COM act different for the same controller (e.g. could the VAS have Login - 11 enabled but VAG-COM has it disabled)?

Thanks.

Default Login (11) is used in older modules with KWP1281, Sec. Access (16) is used with KWP2000.

VAS and VAG-COM should act exactly the same in this particular case.

Got an example for the case you are describing?

Default VAG-COM says it's using KWP2089

At this time it's only guessing but I'm trying to access the RNS-E on #56 or #37 and try to enable a certain feature. Based on some feedback I got I have to enter a login code to do so but all VAG-COM gives me is the Security Access - 16. I'm wondering if the result is the same and I can continue trying to use Security Access - 16 instead of Login - 11. Or if it's worth to try to use Login - 11 with a VAS.

Thanks,
Dirk

Default A RNS-E uses KWP2000 (or KWP2089) which means Login (11) will never be available.

Function 11 is becoming "Coding-II" on KWP2000.

BTW: We already talked about that via Email, the "certain feature" needs more than a simple login/sec. access.

Default Thanks, Sebastian,

I know we talked about this but since nobody is willing to tell me how I have to keep looking around and asking. As I said, if I would be in Germany I would simply get it enabled. But since I'm in the US where nobody offers this service I have to keep looking and trying...

...just keep in mind that Ross-Tech doesn't want to have to do with this, neither do I.

Fine with me, that's why I asked a question about VAG-COM and nothing else.
