Evaporator Temp Sensor Faulty?
Hi all, I am new to this forum, vcds and air con systems... so please bare with me!
My father in law's 2005 A3 (MK2) has had weak air con for a while, he took it for a regass recently though and they said system pressure was fine.
He was here for Christmas so I hooked up vcds and found the following codes:
00818 - Sensor for Evaporator Outlet Temperature (G263)
007 - Short to Ground
01274 - Air Flow Flap Positioning Motor (V71)
003 - Mechanical Failure - Intermittent
00796 - Fan for Interior Temp Sensor (V42)
011 - Open Circuit - Intermittent
Aside from the codes I noticed something strange, when I look at the live data the temperature of the evaporator is showing as a constant and exact 0 degrees celcius, even if turn off the car for half an hour and come back.
The compressor regulator valve is also showing 0 degrees (which I am assuming means shut, please feel free to confirm) and the eco light is now permanently on. Since the light has stuck on there is no more cold air at all.
So, while the fault codes need attending to, my thoughts are that the evap temp sensor is probably crook. I am thinking that with the evap temp sensor showing 0 degrees the computer has probably shut the compressor regulator valve to stop the evaporator icing up. Hence the lack of cold air and the light being on.
Does this all make sense though?
Or am I likely way off track?
Any thoughts, ideas, would be much appreciated. The car is several hours away from me so I am hoping for the best chance at fixing it first time.
Thanks in advance!
