Default Getting at the turn signal flasher relay on an A6 with wood trim

I have read some of the threads on removing the emergency flasher/turn signal flasher switch on the dashboard. I think I can pry the wood trim off with two putty knives (thanks for the pictures, Mark P). Do I have to remove the radio, or can I just take the switch/relay assembly out through the top? What do I latch on to with the needle nose pliers?

You sure you meant to post in the VAG-COM forum? Not putty knife experience here. :-)
