Group 3 Question: What is normal range of ignition angle?
<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/102074/ignition_angle.jpg"></center><p>My 2000 A4 1.8TQTip with a GIAC chip has ignition angle that seems to vary randomly from 2.3 degrees to 43 degrees.
I have seen other posts that have suggested that ignition angle should decrease as RPMs increase.
Above is a chart of my car's ignition angle and RPM and there does not seem to be a correlation between the two. Is this normal?
Thanks

There is not a defined normal range as such. One important thing to remember.....
is that ignition angle is a variable used by the ECU to provide short term and lowering trend control of the engine torque as required by the DBW torque based engine management design. And can experience wide swings in value from one power stroke to the next.
