i'm still confused about data logging...
so i've bought a used/2nd hand genium HEX-USB+CAN cable from a buddy that sold his A4... so it's the real deal and all...
now when i try to do some data logging, in the pull down menu that let you select which channels you want to log, i don't think i've got all of them... for example people tell me to log channel #20 but i don't have the option to log channel #20...
as a FYI here's the ABOUT screen shot (sorry for the decolouration...)
<img src="http://images17.fotki.com/v293/photos/1/110342/3392364/VAGCOMAboutScreen-vi.gif">
so what do i need to do to be able to see all the channels that can be logged? TIA!

hmmm this is basically how you do it
select the module you want...in most cases [01 engine] for engine related data logging.
then go to [Measuring Blocks - 08]
then enter the three digit measuring block of what parameters you want to measure.
<a href="http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/tour/m-blocks.html">heres a list</a>
at the bottom you'll see "log"...this will do the logging.
when you are done...bring the CSV data into excel and you can do <a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/s4/msgs/1433016.phtml">all sort of stuff</a> with it.

Sounds like you're trying to log via Generic OBD-II
Rather than native VAG.
Select -> 01-Engine -> Measuring Blocks..

looks like one of my coilpacks is a goner...
yesterday codes:
<b>Address 01: Engine
Part No: 8E0 909 518 AF
Component: 1.8L R4/5VT G 0003
16684 - Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected
P0300 - 001 - Upper Limit Exceeded
16686 - <u>Cylinder 2</u>: Misfire Detected
P0302 - 001 - Upper Limit Exceeded</b>
today's codes after swapping the coil-packs around... i switched the middle 2s with the extremities...

try logging what we call a 3rd gear WOT run...
this puts the most load on the engine.
start in 3rd gear around 3200rpm and press the pedal to the metal until you get to 6500rpm.
then graph with the axis being RPM, not timestamp...its a much more telling indication of what the various parameters are doing.
