Default NO DTC But...

02 A4 2.0 cvt with vagcom (704.1) 01 engine readiness showing "O2 SENSOR(S) FAILED OR INCOMPLETED" as well as "CAT. CONVERTER FAILED OR INCOMPLETED".But there is nothing indicated in the dashboard as well as not DTC after an auto scan with vagcom?? It is normal to happen on "OLD" sensor(s)? Will these increase the fuel consumption? Hoped that some big brother will give me a hand. Thanks in advance.

Default The purpose for the Readiness function is to check whether emissions-related systems are working.

If you have recently cleared fault codes, you will need to either perform a specific procedure, or drive several cycles including some highway driving before all will be reset.<ul><li><a href="http://www.ross-tech.com/vcds/tour/readiness.html">http://www.ross-tech.com/vcds/tour/readiness.html</a</li></ul>

Default Send an email to Santos@Ross-Tech.com if the Set Readiness button is grayed out:

Default Re: The purpose for the Readiness function is to check whether emissions-related systems are working

Re: Set Readiness:
My son reports "The car drives like crap for three days after you disconnected the battery, Dad." (my self-esteem is injured!)

Do the Readiness bits affect engine operation / smoothness?

Also: why did VAG choose to store the Throttle Adaptation and Readiness in volatile memory?
To me, this seems to be shortsighted at best.

Car: 1998 Audi A4, US, AHA engine (2.8L 6cyl)

Thanks! - Jim Hutchison
