Default Odd VAG COM codes?

Hello to all,

First post here, hopefully someone has an idea. I just got my VAG COM and when i put it in to my 1999 Passat 1.8T and turn the ignition on, I keep getting the same repetitive readout 3x saying:

-1- -2- -3-(long pause)-4- -5- E (pause) U I R F C H

Any ideas on this? Is it not working or? Cheers for the help!!

Which interface (what name)? Which VAG-COM version? What does "VAG-COM > Options > Test" say?

Default I have no clue what you're talking about.

Where do you see this "readout"?

Sorry I am not using the system you sell. I am instead just using a basic reader. It looks similar to this:

Default This is NOT a VAG-COM, so you should NOT call it that way otherwise you confuse people!

You should contact the vendor of the "thing" to get help.

OK...it is all new to me so I didn't know. We all have to start somewhere, right? No need to be sarcastic and rude...history has taught us over and over again where that leads us. =(

Default When you title your post "Odd VAG-COM codes"

this implies that that you're using VAG-COM, not some goofy Chinese "code reader", sold by someone who seems to have more interest in coffee roasters and cookware than diagnostics.

Ya ya ya. The other guy got his point across now you come in with another snide comment? Brilliant...it was called a VAG COM...how was I to know either way since I do not know much on the subject. How silly of me to think a forum is to discuss problems and get answers and understanding from people who know for those who dont. I guess everyone knows everything hey? So tell me why forums exist then? Duh...I didn't know..it was called a VAG COM and there are lots of different ones out there. I came here looking for some answers and advice and all I got was arrogance and ignorance. What does that tell me? AND you are a mod here? LOL good god. Grab some manners and maturity.

Default Um, dude....before you go shooting your mouth off, you need to know 2 things...

1) When entering an unfamiliar forum with unfamiliar rules, it's always best to read the FAQ page first

2) Getting bitchy with the dude who developed the best non-factory VW/Audi software in the world (no I'm not kissing ***, it's a fact), is definitely NOT advisable

I have a hard time believing that anyone would attempt to market their cheap OBD reader as a "VAG COM" and be able to get away with it.

Oh I agree...this thing is junk and I realize that now. I got it for free so no harm done. Now in regards to the creator of the after-market VAG-COM talking to me, that is great but if he is the creator, I suspect he would have a bit more professionalism and courtesy rather than being a ****** to someone who is new on the subject. THere are other ways to get your point across and let someone, who doesnt know what is up, the ropes about this subject. Just because he created it doesn't mean he has to be cynical. Right? How is anyone suppose to learn in this world if they get answers like that to thier honest questions? You catch more flies with honey that you do with vinegar.
