I am wondering if there is a way to read/clear the DTC's from a newer Audi's Intelligent key wirelessly like the dealer does. (or is this done by plugging the key into a special dongle/port?) Is there an add-on for VAG-COM to do this or some known hardware I can install on my laptop/desktop to do this?

AFAIK the DTC's are stored in the module in the car not in the key.

However, I'm told that even the dealers in Germany don't have these yet.

goto the dealer for service you just hand your keys over and they can get a run-down of everything going on and what possibly will be needed without having to bring the car in the bay and have a technician run diagnostics. This is a recent development.

At the moment, this is limited to a every small number of cars, and I don't believe it can give you any more info that you can get by plugging into the car itself. So while I understand the utility at a dealership, I'm not sure what point there would be for an enthusiast.

However, if/when it becomes mainstream, we may look at it in more detail.
