Default Error coded when logging, No Response from Controller

I am running Windows 2000 SP4
HP OmniBook 900 Laptop

Audi 2000 S4 Avant 6 speed
Has a ABT chip installed

VAG-Com 512.4UD with my USB VAG-Com lead,
I bought this directly through Ross-Tech.

The Error is as follows-
VAG-Com: Init Controller
No Response from Controller.

It happens after inconsistently, not only when logging, even when just doing measuring blocks.

I have to reset the computer to get communication again.

Appreciate any comments/Help
Cheers
Steve

What type of "lead"? HEX or KEY-Series? Any other software on the laptop?

Default An OmniBook like your's "should" have a CPU Speed of 650 MHz, which "should" be enough, but...

..."might" not be enough in some cases. Would be interesting to see how a serial interface behaves in this case.

Any other software running in the background?

Default Check power settings on computer

Try least battery friendly settings, or try running on AC power to see if it makes a difference.

Also try Device Manager -> USB Controllers -> USB Root Hub -> Open the Properties Sheet -> Power Management Tab -> uncheck "Allow computer to turn off this device". Repeat for each USB Root Hub.

Default Re: Check power settings on computer

I am running the Laptop on a 12 to 230volt inverter plugged into the cigarette lighter socket, So no issues with runing on batteries.

I will chaeck the USB setting as suggested and get back to you,

Then do some more logging,

Appreciate your help

No other software other than AntiVirus,

I will dis-able the AntiVirus and do a logging run to see if this effects the problem.

Default Re: Check power settings on computer

Checked everything,
Found no issues with the USB settings.

I already had the battery set for always on, so battery management was off.

I did uninstall the AntiVirus software, did a quick logging run, and didn't get an error,

Will do some more over the next couple of days and see if I get it again.

Cheers

Default Still having problems

Still having a problem with this,

I am running on an inverter, so not on batteries,
all USB settings are correct,

and I have uninstalled my Anti Virus software.

I don't think that this about CPU power, as it is loosing communication rather than missing logging points.
