Default Reprogramming key remotes with Immo III

First, I'm a genuine 2x Ross-Tech registered customer. ;-)

Second, this isn't your usual SKC "how do I reprogram" question... I get all that. As you noted in your Immo III writeup, tough, once a remote has been coded to a cluster, a check bit is set. Your docs say that this remote cannot then be reused on another car, which is consistent with other info that I've read.

But do you know of any way to reset that bit so it's "clean"? I'd still have the SKC problem, but at least I wouldn't have to pay full price for a brand new never-been-touched switchblade.

Or is a used Immo III remote just a small paperweight?

Thank you.

Default Either you are mixing something here or this is just a terminology problem...

The part which is being locked is the immobilizer/transponder, the remote control is usually a separate part which only operated the central locking. The remote control is not being locked at all and can be re-used. To answer you original question, the immobilizer/transponder can not be reset as far as we know.

Default I'm referring to this page:

http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/cars/immobilizer.html

Towards the bottom, in the multi-coloured table it indicates that for Immobilizer III:
Key Matching (New) -- Car SKC Needed
Key Matching (Used) -- Not Possible

"Used keys are ones that have previously been matched to a different vehicle."

I took that to mean that once a switchblade remote has been coded to a car, it may not be recoded to another car. This is consistent with other claims that I've seen about a bit or chip in the remote being set once only.

If this is true, then one cannot purchase a used remote for an Immo III car.

I'm trying to confirm or refute this and, if true, if there is any way to clear or reset that used remote so that it may be coded again to a different car.

Thanks for any help, Sebastien.<ul><li><a href="http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/cars/immobilizer.html">http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/cars/immobilizer.html</a</li></ul>

Default Again, you are mixing up terminology... ;)

<center><img src="http://eleanor.tool-base.de/tuning/klappsch/sender_3tast.jpg"></center><p>The "rear" remote control part (as seen in the picture) can be matched multiple times to multiple cars. The "front" switchblade part (which contains the immobilizer transponder) can only be matched once.

So this means you can re-use the remote control part but not the key/switchblade part as the transponder is being locked.
