Default Running out of things to replace, still getting a code.. Getting a consistant 17549 - ......

17549 - Load Calculation Cross Check: Implausible Value Intermittent etc.....

I've replaced the MAF, cleaned the Throttle. Checked the wiring, though not all the way back to the ECU.

When I read measuring block 002, it's 100% within spec. Yet, this code will NOT stay cleared.

This car has thrown this code several times in the 8 years I've owned it, but this time, it's not going away. I suppose it could be something in the throttle, though that also checks out within spec. Haven't found any vacuum or intake leaks, though there's a distinct brief whistle/chirp upon cracking the throttle from idle.

Anyone beaten this one?

Default oops. I'm such a n00b.. 1998.5 A4 2.8 Quattro Tip.

Bentley mentions 2 items to check: MAF and Throttle Body. I've checked both, they are within spec according to the measuring blocks.

Sounds like you have a leak to me. What all have you done to search for a leak?

Default So far, replaced all the vacuum lines, and cleaned up a bunch of the PCV connections..

I have some time scheduled with it in the garage tomorrow..

I feel like I can hear a leak, but I'll be darned if I can find it..

Default I think I licked this, at least for now...

n checking for leaks, I had to make room to get my hand down behind the throttle, and to do that, I unplugged the kick down switch at the firewall.. I apparently forgot to re-connect it, and ever since, the error has not come back.

So, evidently the fault is with the kick down switch, something the Bentley makes no mention to check on Tip cars.

If you've got a Tip car, and are getting the Load Calculation Cross Check error, try unhooking the kick down switch harness, and see if it improves.
