Steering angle sensor problem
Hi there,
I just had my car aligned and started getting random engagement of the ESP system on my '01 A6 since then. Someone told me that I should re-zero the steering angle sensor. I have tried doing that based on the instructions below, but the "go" button is greyed out in the final step so I cannot continue. Also, now the ESP and ABS lights are on full-time. Can anyone suggest a solution?<ul><li><a href="http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/cars/steeringangle.html">Setting Steering Angle</a></li></ul>

There are no fault codes...
When I follow the directions to zero the steering angle sensor, I click on the ABS controller, then click login, enter the 4 digit code, then go back and click basic settings and use the up arrow to go to Group 001. That says something like:
steering angle OK NA
OK and NA are referring to ABS sensors (the one on the right rear is the one that's "NA").
And the "go" button is greyed out. So I can no longer follow along with the script from the ross-tech site after that point.
---
Before I connected the VAG-Com, neither the ABS or EPS lights were lit and I could turn EPS on/off manually with the switch on the dash. After the 1st attempt to zero the steering sensor, both ABS and ESP lights are now lit constantly and I can no longer manually turn EPS on and off.
I've tried the procedure 4 or 5 times now and it always gets stuck at the same point. Any suggestions?

If the ABS and ESP light are on, there MUST be fault codes. Also note...
...that once you access the abs controller the ABS/ESP light intentionally goes n, maybe this is what you are talking about.
The procedure on the Ross-Tech site say "group 001", it does NOT say "use the arrow to scroll to group 1". Point here is, once you access the group the basic setting is running and accessing can mean entering a number manually then pressing "go" or it can mean "scroll" to the group - while scroll is NOT suggested to be used.

If you use the "scoll" (up/dn) buttons next to a field with a number,
then you don't need to click the "Go" button. The "Go" button is needed only if you type the number.

Here you go... If possible contact me directly after you solved the problem...
...I'd like to get some info from your car that we would like to incorporate in the next version of VAG-COM.<ul><li><a href="http://wiki.ross-tech.com/index.php/ESP_System_Function_Test_%28Bosch%29">http://wiki.ross-tech.com/index.php/ESP_System_Function_Test_%28Bosch%29</a</li></ul>

Still no go...
Maybe I'm just not doing something right. I've managed to get the ESP light to go off (a firm brake pedal press did that), but the ABS light remains on.
I'll contact you offline, Sebastian.
Thanks,
