Default Trying to cycle ABS, but keep on getting "No response from controller" message

I can run the full auto-scan, and I have no problem accessing other modules, but clicking on the ABS module doesn't work. The car makes the three beeps while trying, I can hear the ABS controller clicking under the hood, but that's it. Am I missing something, or is there something I need to do to fix this?

(I have a HEX+CAN cable, which I bought for my '02 allroad about 18 months ago, and the software is version 704.)

this can happen if the abs control module is broken
