If you want to be sure of full coding capability and future compatibility through updates, there is only one that our forum members are certain will work now and in the future - Ross-Tech's VCDS cable and software. Not inexpensive but a complete hardware and software tool with assured performance and longevity that we can rely on.

That is NOT a Ross Tech cable but a counterfeit using their name. Ross-Tech sells the cables on their website. These knock off cables are usually made in China and while they may work for some things, as soon as Ross Tech updates their firmware or software these can be come less useful than a bungee cord. As I wrote before, if you a product that can do full coding now and in the future, get the Ross Tech VCDS cable. If all you want to do is change a few common things and read codes, check out the inexpensive Carista app with a cheap OBDII dongle (do an AW search). Both Ross-tech and Carista are sponsors of AudiWorld.

niedzial1983, please share your experience with that 30 pounds option. I am also looking into inexpensive option for private use (and not a professional garage) to check/reset fault codes. No updates required, no serious programming or tuning. Just to know whether the condition of the car is critical and there is a need to take the car immediately to garage or book and appointment let's say next week... or even reset the code and be happy.

If all you want to do is change a few mods and run scans, this might be your best option:
Carista OBD2 - Vehicle Diagnostics and Customization | brew your own car
You can also search the forums for threads on this product as they are an AW sponsor.
