Default VAG-COM Activation...

I bought the Twin-Com back in October and I never registered the software. (Yes, I'm lame) I noticed the software generates an ID after you use the program. I format my laptop almost every month (My sister puts all sorts of crap on it...I hate Gator.) and was wondering would it generate a different serial # and I would have to e-mail to get another activation code? Thanks

Default Tell your sister to get her own PC!

Seriously, yes, if you reformat your HD, you'll loose your activation (and generate a new serial number). The right way to deal with this is to de-activate VAG-COM first and keep the proof-of-deactivation code. Then when you're done reinstalling Windows, send us the new serial along with the proof-of-deactivation and we'll give you a new activation.

An alternative: Upgrade to a HEX-COM interface. It acts as a dongle for the software. No activation needed.

The Hex-COM interface is a hardware key along with the OBD connector?

Default Yes, a dongle and more:

* Faster initial synchronization
* Faster (20-40%) sample rates
* Better compatibility with "difficult" control modules -- like many Audi Radios..:-)

Although I think it's a slight exageration, one of my dealer-tech customers said the upgrade is "Like switching from dial-up to DSL".

Default Misplaced Invoice!

I have bought the Twin-Com since November 2002 but I have not yet set up the program I downloaded nor have I even tried to register as yet. Only yesterday I tried to set up program and start registration but to my amazement the software was asking me for an identification number which was apparently on the invoice. However, I cannot find my invoice where I paid $199.00. Can you advise what can be done?

There should be a sticker on your TWIN-COM with the Certificate Number.
