Default Vag com codes what do they mean

And what do these mean?

Problem: Once in a while, about 1 in 5 starts, when i start my car, it will start like normal then just die. Just pulled these codes from the car, only ones it had:

VAG-COM Version: Release 409.1-US
Control Module Part Number: 8N0 906 018 AL
Component and/or Version: 1.8L R4/5VT G 0004
Software Coding: 07700
Work Shop Code: WSC 01236
Additional Info: TRUWX28N721008598 AUZ5Z0A7230171
1 Fault Found:
17978 - Engine Start Blocked by Immobilizer
P1570 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent

VAG-COM Version: Release 409.1-US
Control Module Part Number: 8N1 920 980
Component and/or Version: KOMBI+WEGFAHRS. M73 D14
Software Coding: 02244
Work Shop Code: WSC 22302
Additional Info: TRUWX28N721008598 AUZ5Z0A7230171
1 Fault Found:
01176 - Key
07-10 - Signal too Low - Intermittent

Then as i was going to pull my car in the garage, it did it, and i pulled it:

VAG-COM Version: Release 409.1-US
Control Module Part Number: 8N0 906 018 AL
Component and/or Version: 1.8L R4/5VT G 0004
Software Coding: 07700
Work Shop Code: WSC 01236
Additional Info: TRUWX28N721008598 AUZ5Z0A7230171
1 Fault Found:
17978 - Engine Start Blocked by Immobilizer
P1570 - 35-00 - -

To me this would say the immobilizer is being triggered because the battery in my key fob is low?

Default the "immobilizer" is shutting down the car. I assume you have a yellow key lit up on the cluster?

if it starts and shuts off, that could be the key.

If the car starts and drives I think that points to an issue with the immobilzer itself.

If you look on audipages.com, there is a fix on the A8 for the same problem. Just a point of reference, not sure if it's the same on your car.

Default Re: the "immobilizer" is shutting down the car

When it doesnt start, there is no yellow key symbol on my cluster

Well i went out last night and replaced the batteries in my key fob and ever since, it has started every time perfectly. Whether or not this is just pure luck idk but hopefully it continues. If it does act up again, whats the next thing to check?

Default The Remote transmitter is not functionally involved with the Immobilizer ,,,

and the battery in the remote has no relationship with the immo either. The Immobilizer transponder chip in the key, is powered by the inductive reader coil in the ignition switch. The reader coil is known to have issues, and occasionally the harness wiring connections are the source of intermittent/weak signals. The DTC associated with a weak signal, is the cause of the no/failed starting and DTC: engine start blocked by immo. Fix the weak signal with the immo transponder reader coil and the other symptoms will resolve.
BTW, the Valet key has an immo transponder chip inside also.

Default OK.. this is confusing.. when I had bought my CPO 2001 A6 2.7t....

The original key was not recognized by the car and the dealer asked me to give him both the REMOTE based keys only to program them into the car. He never asked for the valet key or for the PLASTIC emergency key... surely that plastic key has no immoblizer in it but can still drive the car?? I thought only the two remote based keys were cut in such a way that immobilizer got activated.. but the valet and the plastic key did not do any immobilizer stuff.. How do I read the immobilizer stuff on the VAG??
