Default VAG-COM trickery:

Looks like I did not fully look into this before pulling the trigger on purchasing my VAG-COM and actually purchased a knock off...

Although it works...I became aware of this when I tried updating to the latest software and now can't connect to my car.

I don't want to be using unofficial equipment. What are my options?

Is the cable I have good to go? Do I need to purchase a lic?

Or do I just eat it and purchase a whole new deal from Ross?

Burn it with fire.

The developers at Ross-Tech have worked very hard to develop their system, maintain it, and provide assistance to owners. When you take into consideration the benefits of owning a legitimate cable and the risks associated with using a pirated one, it is quickly seen what a deal it is. Also, solicitation of pirated cables or information regarding how to use them on this forum is against the rules.

A legitimate cable can be purchased at Ross-Tech: Home

As I said in my op....I fired from the hip on it....googled a vag-com cable found one.....bought it.

I totally get why I would want one from ross.

I can't just pay them for the lic. And firmware? And not but a cable or is the cable the Not as good as the one they would send.

I want to say no, and emphatically too, but I can't speak on their behalf. There is a "Pre-Sales Support" section of their forums you can post questions to on their site.

When you buy from Ross-Tech, the license is embedded in the cable/dongle. I have the WiFi enabled dongle and like the versatility that you can't get from the cheap cables.
