I do not need the top of the line VAG unit looking more for a unit device to reset maintenance lights after oil changes and maybe read some of the error codes but nothing more than that. which one will be best fit for me.

I would not waste time/money on a cheap knockoff.
Ultimately they end in frustration and are typically using stolen Ross-Tech intellectual capital.

VCDS sounds expensive to some, but they more than pay for themselves very quickly.
Like my Amex I don't leave home without it.
