Vag-Com...to buy or not to buy
Previously owned a '02 A6 and just purchased a '13 A6. Should I purchase VagCom or not? Would this be beneficial for the casual user? From what I see on the Ross Tech website it is $349.... considering the cost of the car this is relatively insignificant but do I really need.

Need vs. Want.. I've had a VAG COM since around 2000, and can't imagine not having one. Peace of mind every time the MIL comes on, that you can check it whenever you want. Also for routine maintenance, and even minor services such as rear brakes, it becomes the most valuable tool you have.

Everything Kris said, and like Amex I don't leave home without it.
Plus when something goes wrong 2 hours of diagnostics by Audi will pay for it.
If you change brands or decide you don't need it, you normally get the bulk of the cost back.
It's hard to find a genuine cable in the classifieds or on eBay for less than $300.
