What is your advice about Vag-Com?

No argument here about the need for a genuine VAG-Com product. I know I need one and am gathering some information while my finances catch up.

I have a 03 AR 2.7T and from the Ross-Tech website, there are 2 interfaces that are applicable for my car. VCDS-HEX-USB+CAN and the VCDS-KII-USB. There is a $100 difference between these two so I would like to know what the difference is or more importantly, which one you recommend for my car?

The differences between the cables are pretty well documented on the Ross-Tech website:

The main difference is support for the newer CAN-based models.

I would recommend going with the HEX-USB+CAN cable - whilst you may not 'need it' for your '03 allroad, it'll work with the full range of models if/when you decide to upgrade.

If you decide to on-sell the cable at any point, it'll also be the most desirable/marketable of the cables available.
