1984 Audi 4000S Quattro
Hey I'm thinking of selling my old Audi. This has been a great car for me the last two years but I'd like to upgrade. It's comfortable and fun to drive, and pretty much everything works, except the AC.
The non turbo engine is strong and runs without consuming oil. I get 20-30 mpg, which is awesome for long trips, as it has an 18 gal tank. The transmission is still solid, just a little notchy getting into first when cold. There's plenty of clutch left as well. I can't open or close the differentials inside the car anymore because that pneumatic line has gone, but they can be closed from under the car. Right now the central diff is closed for good 4WD ability.
The engine bay is a bit of a rats nest, obviously the effort of many mechanics over the years. The power steering reservoir leaks a bit, but the engine gaskets are in good shape. The odometer say 157k, but it works intermittently so I'd say this car has more like 170K.
Creature comforts are pretty good. It's got a new bluetooth stereo that works well and LED lights I installed on the ceiling. The sunroof opens and closes in a janky way.
I hope someone else can take this car and enjoy it for its charm. The way it communicates the road and 4 wheel slides is truly a joy.
I'll be putting an ad up on Craigslist soon, but for now it's for sale for $1500 in Boulder, CO.
