2016 sq5 with 21" opt wheel
Hello all I read on an online forum that you can put a 265/40/21 tire instead of the oem 255/40/21 that comes stock. As probably all the sq5 owners probably already know, there are very few options for summer tires (live in New Orleans so no need for winter tires) for this wheel. The Dunlop is a wallet breaker and I've seen mixed reviews on the Pirelli tires. I would love to put Michelins on as my next set but they do not make the 255/40/21. As there are quite a bit more options in the 265 size, has anyone tried putting this size on their sq5? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks

The key thing to consider is to replace the stock 255/40R21 tires a tire that has a 29-inch overall diameter size. Going 265/40R21 means that you are changing the diameter of the tire from 29" to 29.3", a 1% increase in size. If you are going 40 MPH, your speedo will read 40.5 MPH. At 65MPH, the speedo will read 65.75 MPH. If you are OK with this then I see no reason why you can't go for that size. Unless, changing the tire size from the factory spec will affect your new vehicle warranty.
I know you like the Michelins but you may want to consider Continental, Pirelli or Dunlop as alternatives so you can stay with the stock size. All those brands offer good summer tires for your SQ5.
