Default Bigger Tires / Rims on my A3

I have a 2012 Audi A3 that I would like to put new rims and tires on, I have stock suspension, and I am looking for a better tire ride by going to a larger tire.

Will a 245/50/17 or a 235/50/17 will fit this vehicle with these rims?
Or do I have to go smaller like 235/50/17, or even 235/45/17

I want to have rim / curb protection also with the wider tires.

What is the largest size I can go to without clearance issues.???

Stock size is 225/45/17 on 17x7.5 45 offset
Could I use an 8" rim with same offset + - 5 -10 mm????

I am also hearing that the larger tire size will damage the "electronics" in the vehicle, sounds like a lot of bs to me…

The largest/tallest we've fit without rubbing in 17" is 235/45R17 .
