Bore holes too small - what do I do? OK I bought a set of wheels w/ 12mm
holes when I need 14mm for my TT. I just talked to a local wheel store and they have 2 options:
1. Drill out at a cost of approx. $200; 2. Use an adapter stud that has 12mm male on one end and 14mm on the other at a cost of $60 incl. nuts. I got these wheels for track use so they need to be safely mounted. Is the adapter stud a safe way to go?

option 3: return them and get the right wheels
adapters will almost certainly cause eccentricity and vibration. They also wont allow that many threads, and therefore wont be all that strong. Finally, they will increase offset and scrub radius.
Drilling out will be OK only if you get them exactly right - not off by a thousandth or two. Note that a jig wont solve the problem - if the entire jig's off, the wheel will be eccentric again.
Return them. Bite the bullet, IMNSHO.

Grant, I'm not talking about spacer-type adapters. These are actual dual-thread
wheel studs that screw into the OEM 14mm hole via an allen wrench on the end, and then reduce down to 12mm. They would not change offset.
