I recently purchased an '06 AUDI A6 Avant w/17 in. wheels. I know there were contemporary AUDI 16 in. wheels from A4 & A6 that were used as winter fitment. Since the bolt pattern, hub dia. are same and offset similar to '92-95 AUDI S4/S6 wheels I wondered if anybody on this forum has tried these earlier AUDI wheels as snows on their 2006-11 A6? I have extra sets of both FUCHS 16 x 8 Forged S4 wheels and AVUS 16 x 7.5 Cast wheels. The wisdom in the Urs4/6 forums is that the later AVUS wheels have slightly more room to clear calipers on Urs4/6 cars with big brake kits installed. Just wondering if anyone here has insight into this. Yes I plan on putting the car on a lift and trying the wheels if no one has the answer! BTW I used the 16" AVUS on a '99 A6 Avant w/no problems but it has smaller brakes than the 2006 A6. I would like to mount 225/55 x 16 Nokian Hakkapelitta R2's on the car, the OD is exactly the same as stock but slightly narrower for increased winter traction & more sidewall for rim protection.TIA

There are a few 16" wheels that fit the A6. We got a set of RIALs from Tire Rack. I'd be reluctant to assume that it will fit just because it's an Audi wheel.
