Default Wheel and tire insurance... Typical cost?

Anyone recently purchased wheel and tire insurance from your dealer? I'm considering getting it my A7 (stock 19" wheels). In my area, the risk of hitting a major pothole is pretty high. The dealer is offering a 5 year coverage plan through IAS, no deductible, covers replacement as well as cosmetic damage repairs. The initial quote was insanely high: over $2000. Negotiated down to $1870. Still seems too high. 3 months ago we purchased a similar coverage (from another dealer) for my wife's Q3 for $900. I get the wheel / tire difference between Q3 and A7 etc but doubling the premium feels like a rip-off. Or am I wrong?

I just bought the IAS policy for &1295. Covers damage and cosmetics. I did not purchase from the dealer from which I bought my car because they were charging much more. I called around and found another dealer that gave me a better price for the same product.

Thanks. $1295 sounds very reasonable.

On recent purchase of Q5, dealer initially offered $1295 for what sounds like the same policy.

I declined. He came down to about $975. I declined again.

Thanks. $975 is a good deal, imo. On the other hand, the risk of destroying a wheel is less for a Q5.
