American Le Mans Audi not only clinched the Manufacturers´ and Teams´ championships of the American Le Mans Series, but did it with a 1-2-3 finish in the final race of the season. Emanuele Pirro and Frank Biela also took home the Drivers´ championship for themselves. Len Hunt, Vice President in charge of Audi of America dropped the flag to start the race. Michael Galati (No. 9 Champion Audi S4 Competition) became the first driver ever to capture four World Challenge Drivers' Championships, taking the 2001 Speedvision GT title to go with his 1996, 1998 and 1999 Touring Car Championships.
