Standard equipment Like its predecessor, the new Audi A3 sets the benchmark through its premium equipment and model features. Three separate model lines - the Attraction version full of character, the particularly sporting Ambition model, and the highly exclusive Ambiente version - enable the customer to turn each A3 into his - or her - personal dream car. The easy-entry function on the front seats, electric window lifts at the front and central locking with remote control are standard from the start even on the Attraction line models. The driver's seat is adjustable for height as another standard feature. Safety features such as the ESP Electronic Stabilisation Program, the new front seats with active headrests and the sideguard head airbag system are natural features on the new A3. All A3 are available in 14 different paintwork colours ranging from Arctic White to Brilliant Black, from Toucan Yellow to Crystal Blue, with three colours coming as standard. All A3 are painted in body colour throughout. Attraction, Ambition, Ambiente Individual character and style - two concepts crucial to the A3's story of success. Indeed, this is precisely why the new generation continues this equipment concept with three very different model lines appealing to different groups of customers with varying demands and expectations. Attraction: This is the modern interpretation of the A3 theme full of style and character. From outside the Attraction models are clearly recognisable with their 16-inch wheels - as an option in light alloy - running on 205/55 tyres. "Module" fabric comes in four colours (black, beige, light grey or deep blue) as standard on the seats. The surfaces and trim are finished in grained or matt-painted plastic in either black or deep blue, and a pleasant-to-hold four-spoke steering wheel is also standard on the Attraction models. Ambition: This is the even more dynamic interpretation of a car built for a sporting lifestyle - and at the same time it is the most popular version of the A3. The Ambition models come on 7.5 x 17-inch cast aluminium wheels in five-arm design and with 225/45 tyres. The interior is available as standard in a choice of five colour combinations with "Matrix" upholstery: black/grey, black/blue, black/red, deep blue, and light grey. The plastic trim, finally, is in black or deep blue piano paint finish. In addition to the standard equipment on all A3, the Ambition models come with sports suspension, sports seats at the front, a three-spoke leather-covered steering wheel, and the passenger's seat adjustable for height. Other standard features are foglamps, aluminium door sill trims, and the sun screen on the luggage compartment cover. Ambiente, finally, stands for luxury and comfort. Cast aluminium wheels in 7-arm design with 205/55 R 16 tyres clearly identify the third line in the A3 range from outside at very first sight. Inside, the driver has the choice of four different colours (black, deep blue, light grey, and beige) on the "Metric" upholstery. Included as a very stylish material, Vavona amber wood trim adds a truly unique touch. A four-spoke leather-covered steering wheel and a centre armrest at the front are further visible attributes of the Ambiente models. And in addition to the standard range of equipment, the front passenger's seat adjustable for height, an interior mirror with an automatic anti-dazzle effect as well as a light sensor with an integrated coming-home function, cruise control, an outside thermometer, a storage package and an interior lights package all help to provide the finishing touch.
Optional equipment Over and above the various features offered by the three model lines, the driver of the Audi A3 has the choice of many other options and highlights. Indeed, the sheer quality and diversity of these options reflects the commitment of the new Audi A3 to offer the high standard of larger and more luxurious cars also in the compact segment. The following list is therefore only an extract of the options available: A total of 11 special paintwork colours - four in metallic, six in pearl effect - enables the A3 driver to really choose his or her favourite paintwork. Various cast aluminium wheels measuring 6.5 x 16 or 7.5 x 17 inches give the car a sporting touch from outside, not only in terms of its looks. And even in winter the driver of the A3 does not have to forego attractive design, with the choice of two cast aluminium wheels and one steel wheel measuring 6 x 16 - 6 x 17 inches. An electric sliding/tilting glass sunroof offers additional versatility and maximum convenience in use (electrical operation). The sports suspension standard on the Ambition models lowers the entire body by 15 millimetres and makes the suspension and damping particularly dynamic, firm and taut. Xenon headlights are a visible sign of distinction offering significantly enhanced visibility also in the compact class. Both headlight range and intensity are much better, the xenon lights including a headlight cleaning system as well as automatic headlight range control. Free-form foglamps again standard on the Ambition models ensure clear visibility even in critical weather. The interior mirror with automatic anti-dazzle function including a light sensor and automatic headlight control and coming-home function (standard on the Ambiente model) serves to improve visibility and convenience to an even higher standard. The interior lights package comprises features such as illuminated inner door handles, footwell and door sill illumination, illuminated vanity mirrors and storage compartments, ambience illumination and reading lights at the front and rear. The garage door opener integrated in the sun visor can be programmed to different frequencies. Cruise control (standard on Ambiente models) consistently maintains all speeds above 30 km/h, provided the engine offers sufficient brake power. The acoustic parking system facilitates the process of parking the car by emitting audible signals changing consistently depending on how far the car is from an obstacle. The driver information system (standard on the Ambition models) comprises an on-board computer, radio frequency display, outside temperature control, and a radio-controlled clock. The navigation system with acoustic route guidance offers the driver additional convenience and even greater driving safety. The audio system offers the ideal combination of convenience and equipment options for every customer: The Bose Sound System (in conjunction with the concert and symphony audio systems) provides a concert hall atmosphere within the A3. Mobile phone preparation for GSM networks offers convenient voice control for entering and dialling up to 50 different numbers. Digital signal processing serves to compensate noise and ensure excellent voice quality. Operation of the telephone from the multifunction steering wheel is particularly convenient and the Bluetooth interface guarantees lasting system quality also in future. Automatic air conditioning with sunshine-related control offers the driver and front passenger individual temperature adjustment and comes in addition with an air quality sensor automatically switching to air recirculation as soon as ambient air quality drops below a certain level. Leather-covered steering wheels in three- or four-spoke design turn every bend into a genuine pleasure on the road, also offering multifunction control on various versions with additional buttons for operating the tiptronic and infotainment systems. Sports seats at the front ensure excellent side support and are manually adjustable for height (standard on the Ambition models). Leather or leather/Alcantara seats are available for Ambiente and Attraction models. Seat heating also on the outer rear seats is a unique option in the compact range. The storage package includes storage nets in the front seat backrests, a storage compartment beneath the driver's seat, a map compartment in the glove box, storage nets at the front of the centre console and a net and pocket hooks beneath the luggage compartment cover. Through-loading with a removable ski-bag is very convenient for transporting long objects - up to four pairs of skis or two snowboards. The luggage compartment package comprises a universal net fastening to the floor of the luggage compartment or the rear-seat backrest as well as a power socket within the luggage compartment area. | ||||||||
