Unconventional design,
sporting character and athletic technology are now among the
distinctive features of SEAT cars. Today, SEAT represents a
significant element of the Audi brand group. Following the
outstandingly successful Lamborghini exhibition in the spring of
2004, SEAT is now to be presented at the Audi museum mobile in
Ingolstadt: The special "auto emoción" exhibition will be
officially opened there on 26 November 2004, and until the end
of February visitors can experience Spanish flair and spirit in
full measure.
SEAT was founded more than 50 years ago as Sociedad Española de
Automóviles de Turismo, S.A. with the aim of promoting motorised
transport in Spain. In 1990, the official brand designation was
changed to SEAT, S.A. Today, the Spanish car brand is an
integral part of the Audi brand group. Its declared aim is to
present itself as a young and emerging brand in the future, with
individualistic design and sporting character among its
features. The display in the Audi museum mobile possesses the
same attributes. For this, the first exhibition of SEAT vehicles
outside Spain, sixteen cars are on show in the area set aside
for the museum's temporary exhibitions.
The range of cars on display extends from the company's first
models of the 1950s and 1960s to impressive studies and
prototypes and on to current models. Exhibits include the
historic SEAT 1400, a Fiat replica dating from 1954, but none
the less the pride of the Spanish carmaker, and the very first
independent SEAT, the SEAT Ibiza built in 1984. Visitors'
attention will be drawn immediately to the exciting design of
the SEAT Fórmula of 1999 and the genuinely trend-setting shape
of the SEAT Salsa concept car first seen in 2000. The company's
extensive motor sport tradition is also given due attention: on
a banked curve, racing cars narrate the story of their
successful appearances on racing and rally circuits across the
globe. Visitors can admire among other things the well-known
SEAT Fórmula Nacional from 1970, which celebrated various
successes in the 1970s, the SEAT Ibiza Kit Car, which from 1996
on, scored a "World Rally Champion" hat-trick in the two-litre
class, and last but not least the mighty SEAT Toledo Marathon
all-road rally car.
The four rings of the Audi badge symbolise the brands Audi, DKW,
Horch and Wanderer, which were later combined under the umbrella
of Auto Union. Auto Union and NSU, which merged in 1969, made
many significant contributions towards the development of the
car. AUDI AG was formed from Audi NSU Auto Union AG in 1985.
Together with the two traditional companies Auto Union GmbH and
NSU GmbH, Audi Tradition nurtures and presents the deep and
diverse history of Audi. The Audi museum mobile at the Audi
Forum Ingolstadt is open from Monday to Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 6
p.m.
