Part Two: No-mods-barred "Uber" S4 dyno test
Without full participation from all tuners at the shootout, we decided to extend an invitation to various AudiWorld B6 S4 owners for this testing. Once again, the only limitation was the use of 93 octane gasoline.
AWE upgraded the stock car from part one of the shootout with their high flow downpipes
and cat back exhaust system. The system - with its precise welds and large tips - is almost too beautiful to bolt onto the bottom of a car. We believe the car could have returned even better numbers with more time for adaptation given the progression of the curves from run one to three.
![]() AWE-upgrade stock This next car was dubbed Frankenstein and belongs to AudiWorld user JDBlueAudiS4. He runs an AWE chip, a Milltek cat back exhaust and a Stratmosphere Hyperflow intake.
![]() Frankenstein The next ride was owned by AudiWorld user Fluffhead. His car is modded with an APR chip, down pipes and exhaust. He has also installed a Stratmosphere Hyperflow intake and Stasis motorsport suspension. Fluffhead's car ran similar numbers to JDBlueAudiS4's car in the last shootout, but felt sluggish this time around. After the event, his car was diagnosed with a clogged fuel filter.
![]() Fluffhead AudiWorld user MINDTRIP's car was up next. He sports an OCT stage 3 chip, Milltek downpipes and Milltek non resonated exhaust, along with a Stratmoshere short shifter and KW V3 suspension.
![]() MINDTRIP The next car in the line was AudiWorld reader Philip Yiu. His car was prepared by Danny at KMD Tuning and includes REVO programming, Milltek downpipes and Dahlback exhaust along with a KMD short shifter and KW V3 suspension.
![]() Philip Yiu As a surprise to many, Motodyne's elusive supercharged S4 made it to the event. We knew before the car was strapped onto the dyno that it was not running correctly. We only did one pull on dyno as air/fuel ratios were very lean and we were concerned about causing damage to the engine. In the end, the supercharged car returned numbers less than our stock vehicle. Robert Hack reported after the event that he had dropped in a S8 fuel rail, adjustable rising rate fuel regulator along with a European S4 return line and the car was running much better. ![]() Motodyne To keep the B5 vs. B6 disscussion alive, at the end of the day we put the AWE B5 S4 Avant on the dyno. As you can see from the dyno chart below, it registered over 95 HP and 95 ft-lbs of torque more than the best B6 S4 of the day.
![]() B5 S4 Avant Again, we want to thank AWE Tuning for the generous donation of their facilities and man power. In the end what became known as the "Frankenstein S4" - JDBlueAudiS4's car - came out on top of the B6 S4 "uber" list from a numbers point of view. |
