AudiBMW.com Racing scored it’s first victory of the 2006 season this past weekend in Summit Point, WV. Not only did the #06 Audi S4 perform well enough to take first in class it also easily set a new ITE class record.

The goal we have set this year for the # 06 team car is high. This car will be solely dedicated to accomplishing the amazing feat of setting a new ITE record in every event in the 2006 Pennsylvania Hillclimb Series (www.PAHillclimb.org). PHA was established in 1963 but some of the events in the series have been around for nearly 100 years. In fact this year the Giant Despair Event will celebrate it’s 100th anniversary. The AudiBMW.com Racing # 06 Audi S4 will be there to claim another victory for Audi.

Last year we ran two events in the series Pagoda in June and Duryea in August and did amazingly well in both. With the teams purchase of Don Istook’s Grand Am Cup S4’s last year Bill Miller (team co-owner and driver) decided to organize a serious Hillclimb campaign for the teams World Challenge Spec #06 car for the 2006 season. We have the #4 and #04 ex-Istook cars to road race now so it only makes sense to set up the #06 car to make some serious history for itself.

With the help of Tim and Todd Sprinkle, team manager and driver/lead tech respectively the car was prepared over the winter for it’s 2006 ITE record setting assault. Along with a complete consideration for the alignment specs the entire transmission was completely redone. The transmission in the #06 car has always been a weak link, so not only was a complete rebuild in order the team also took the opportunity to install close ratio gears. With only one event completed with the new box it does seem to be a huge improvement over the old one. The RPM drop from 2nd to 3rd is so much better, there is no more waiting for the boost to spool back up. We will continue to develop the car throughout the season, but the whole team is very confident from where we are starting from.

Please visit www.PAHillClimb.org for the event schedule and if you’re in the area we would love to see you at any of the 2006 season events. Also visit www.AudiBMW.com for updates, in car video and a complete history and future plans for www.AudiBMW.com Racing. We race Audis out of a true passion for mark. Everything we accomplish in racing gives us a serious sense of pride knowing we have added to Audi’s long dominant history in motorsports.
