Audi Welcomes Apprentices for 2007

Today is a very special day for 682 young people: 453 in all are starting their apprenticeships at Audi in Ingolstadt, while a further 229 are starting theirs at the Neckarsulm factory. Dieter Omert, Head of Training at AUDI AG, welcomed the apprentices to Audi. “In-depth training at an innovative company such as Audi provides an excellent basis for a successful professional career. At Audi, you will receive outstanding training. In return, we expect you to show dedication and commitment.”

Josef Schelchshorn, Head of Human Resources at the Audi factory in Ingolstadt, congratulated the young men and women at the start of their apprenticeship. “Audi is one of the most attractive employers in Germany. The company’s success is directly related to the competence displayed by its employees. Their commitment and dedication are the basis for us continuing to build and sell premium vehicles of top quality.”

AUDI AG provides training in 20 professions at the two German sites in Ingolstadt and Neckarsulm. The professions concerned range from production mechanic to IT specialist and technical product designer. In recent years, training capacity has been greatly increased, and the high level has been maintained this year, too.

Jörg Schlagbauer, Member of the Works Committee at AUDI AG, called on the new apprentices to learn their professions with inquisitiveness, enthusiasm and confidence. Audi needs well-trained, motivated and dedicated employees who want to help shape the future of the company.

Following the successful completion their training, all apprentices at AUDI AG can rely on having a secure job and will start a promising professional career with many different prospects for development, stated Schelchshorn.

Three of the young men and women are starting their apprenticeships in two new professions. These are the medical specialist and the vehicle interior specialist. The principal job of the vehicle interior specialist is to process and fit technical accessories and materials. The profession of medical specialist includes not only the qualifications usually associated with the image of the profession, but also other future-oriented assignments in the field of occupational medicine. Audi is thus responding to the increased importance of occupational medicine and to the wide range of medical care programmes that are available to all employees.

Most of the apprentices will learn the professions of production mechanic (72), vehicle mechatronics technician (70), toolmaker (60) and mechatronics technician (60). Other training professions include electronics technician for automation technology, vehicle paint technician or industrial clerk. Training times at Audi are variable and are scheduled to fit in with production times. The training is thus optimally integrated into the production processes.
