One Lap of America 2007: Project One Lap

In the early 1970's Brock Yates, senior editor of Car and Driver Magazine created the now infamous Cannonball Sea-to-Shining-Sea Memorial Trophy Dash; a flat out, no-holds-barred race from New York City to Redondo Beach, California. Imortalized in Cannonball Run and Smokey and the Bandit movies, the event has been run in various formats over the years.

Today's Cannonball One Lap of America is all about endurance and vehicle preparation with teams driving nearly twenty-four hours a day and competitions taking place as time trials on race tracks throughout the country.

The Project One Lap team has entered the 2007 event with a 2001.5 S4 Avant, a 450hp daily driver belonging to Josh Wyte and co-driven by friends Kasim Esmail and Ed Casey. The Project One Lap team is anxious to prove that the Audi is up to the task and is also raising money for Racing 2 Save Lives, a nonprofit organization that supports different children's charities.
